Benue State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, Friday, signed into law the 2024 Budget christened the Budget for Infrastructural Development, Job Creation and Poverty Alleviation.
Performing the signing, attended by the speaker Benue State House of Assembly Aondona Dajo, state chairman the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Austin Agada and other top government functionaries at a ceremony held at the old banquet hall of government house Makurdi.
The governor who described the occasion as a significant step towards the progress and prosperity of the state, further explained that the budget has an aggregated financing to the sum of 225.7 billion naira.
According to him, out of the aggregated sum, recurrent expenditure stands at N110.5 billion, representing 48.9 per cent while the capital sub-head stands at 115.2 billion naira representing 51.1 per cent, explaining further that the deficit financing of the budget would stand at 34.6 billion naira representing 15.3 per cent of the total 2024 budget respectively.
He assured that the budget would serve as a roadmap to chart a future course where Benue communities would thrive, with the economy flourishing as well as the citizens of the state enjoying an improved quality of life, promising that his administration would invest significantly in the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges as well as other vital critical infrastructure with job seekers and entrepreneurs also smiling.
The governor described the 2024 budget as a beacon of hope for job seekers and aspiring entrepreneurs, adding that government understands the importance of job creation in fostering a dynamic and resilient economy.
