Police rescue kidnapped lecturer in Nasarawa as two friends lost their lives

Men of the Nigerian Police Force in Nasarawa State Command in collaboration with local vigilante group have rescued a lecturer with the Nasarawa State University Keffi, NSUK, who was reported to have been kidnapped on Wednesday night at Old Barracks in Kokona local government area of the state; few kilometers away from the university.

Luck came the way of the kidnapped victim, Mr. Isaac Igbawua, when police discovered the kidnappers’ den through the help of local farmer.

Our correspondent gathered that the local farmer had discovered the kidnappers’ den where they keep their victims for ransom and alerted the police, who in collaboration with local vigilante invaded the hideout in a nearby Ogba village.

According to eyewitness account, the suspected kidnappers on sighting the police, took to their heels, leaving behind their victim, Isaac Igbawua.

It would be recalled that the Nasarawa State Police Command had in a statement by its spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, Friday, confirmed the rescue of the lecturer.

Meanwhile, the fleeing suspected kidnappers have reportedly killed two persons in Wulko community of Nassarawa Eggon local government area of Nasarawa State.

Residents of Wulko said the fleeing kidnappers were running away from their hideout in a neighbouring village following police invasion, when they ran into the two young men and gunned them down.

Those killed were Ango Habakkuk, popularly known in the area as Ango Gentle, a technician and his best friend Ewuga Williams, a security man; both residents of Wulko community.

Our correspondent further gathered that the remains of Ewuga Williams has since been while that of Ango Habbakuk is still at morgue of OLA Hospital, Akwanga, in Nasarawa State.
