Sokoto State Government has expressed its readiness to render all the necessary support and assistance required by the Nigerian Air Force in its operation to rid the state of bandits.
State Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Muhammad Gobir stated that while receiving the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hassan Bala Abubakar who paid him a courtesy visit at the council Chamber, Government House, Sokoto.
Alhaji Idris Gobir said that was inline with Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s commitment to do whatever possible to address the problem of insecurity in the state
Director of Press Deputy Governor’s office Garba Muhammad said Idris assured that government would not relent in its effort toward ensuring that peace is restored across the state.
The Deputy governor expressed satisfaction with the cordial working relationship between the state Government and all the security Agencies operating in the state.
Earlier, the Chief of Air staff, Air Marshall Hassan Bala Abubakar said his visit was aimed at assessing the readiness of the 119 Composite Unit in the state.
The Chief of Air staff assured of the force readiness to work assiduously with other security Agencies to get rid of Bandits and Banditry activities in the North-west and the country at large.
Air Marshall Hassan vowed that the days of bandits are numbered as they would be pursued wherever they may be.
He said Air strikes against bandits have increased in recent days pointing out that 23 bandits were neutralised yesterday through Air strike at Shiroro.
He acknowledged the efforts of the state government for the provision of some structures for the smooth operation of the Nigerian Air force at the Sultan Abubakar the third International Airport,Sokoto.
He similarly used the opportunity to condole the family and people of the state over the death of the District head of Gatawa in the hands of Bandits.
According to him, the unfortunate incident has further confirmed the need to put all hands on deck to get rid of the criminals.
