Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved and release the total sum of N700,000,000 for 60 students from the state who are studying Medicine and Pharmacy in various foreign countries.
This was disclosed by Kebbi State Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga in a press conference in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
According to him, N177,000,000 was approved for 28 students studying Medicine and Pharmacy in Subharti and GD Goenka universities in India. The money covers registration fees, tuition, upkeep, visa extension and internship, while another N117,000,000 was also approved for upkeep 25 students studying Medicine in seven Egyptian Universities.
Similarly, an approval and release of N70,000,000 as financial assistance to ones studying Pharmacy and Medical and Allied Sciences in Jaipur National and GD Goenka Universities in India.
Tunga added that another approval of N300,000,000 was given for tuition fees and upkeep allowances for 35 to study Medicine and Pharmacy in Ethiopia
“The total for the separate approvals is N700,000,000 between January 2026 to date “.
He commended the governor for paying huge attention to education in Kebbi State and for assisting the children of the poor who most of them made the list in the foreign scholarships.
