The Kebbi State Government has reiterated its commitment to sustaining support for non- governmental organisations, NGOs, to enable them achieve their core mandates in the state.
The state commissioner for Health, Alhaji Yanusa Musa, stated this at a special award ceremony organized by the New Incentives in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
The award was to honour state and local government officials who played vital roles in the implementation of their programmes and activities in the state.
While representing the award to some of the beneficiaries, Musa commended the New Incentives for the efforts towards ensuring that no child was left un-immunised in the state.
“We commend the New Incentives for their unwavering support for the people of the state, especially on its efforts to ensure that no child is left un-immunised.
” The New Incentives gives pregnant women with at-risk pregnancies conditional cash transfers, which encourage them to follow medical advice and treatment so that their children are born healthy.
“This is commendable programme and we appreciate and commend them for that,” he said.
The commissioner, represented by Deputy Director Public Health, Alhaji Usman Magaji, said that the incentives had succeeded in changing the statistical data of immunization in the state.
In his remarks, th Operation Coordinator of the New Incentives in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, Alhaji Ibrahim Rabiu , said the aim of the award was to motivate partners from state and local government areas to increase their routine support towards actualising comprehensive objectives of the incentives.
“We support the RI system by engaging in vaccine supply review, supporting top-up vaccine transportation, participating in supportive supervision, funding health worker training, and conducting advocacy to religious and traditional leaders,” he said.
