Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has expressed deep sadness over the passing away of Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff who died on Tuesday night in Lagos at the age of 56 after a period of illness.
Governor Alia in a massage of condolence to President Bola Tinubu, Wednesday, in Makurdi, by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, described the late Chief of Army Staff as someone who played key roles in ensuring internal security in the country.
Alia lamented with pains the keen interest late Lagbaja developed in the security situation in Benue State, affirming that the state has missed a dear friend.
The governor also recalled that the late Chief of Army Staff had worked assiduously with his administration to ensure that peace returned to the state.
Governor Alia who prayed to God to give his immediate family, the Nigerian Armed Forces and the whole country the fortitude to bear this great loss, equally asked God to grant him eternal rest.
