Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has expressed his deepest condolences over the passing of His Royal Highness, Clement Kparevfa Uganden, the Tor Jechira.
Uganden, a revered traditional ruler, passed away on July 25, 2024, in a London hospital.
Governor Alia in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, released Wednesday in Makurdi, described the loss as a sad event, noting that the monarch demise has robbed the Jechira people and Tiv Nation of a wise leader, father, and opinion leader.
Alia further acknowledged the significant contributions Uganden made towards conflict resolution and the preservation of customs and traditions during his tenure as Chairman of the Jechira Intermediate Area Traditional Council.
The Governor equally praised Tor Jechira, Uganden’s leadership style and wisdom, lamenting that his wise counsel would be deeply missed by his people and offered his prayers for God to receive the late monarch, Uganden’s soul, comfort his family, Jechira people, and the entire state.
Governor Alia also lamented that Uganden’s passage has left a void in the traditional leadership of Benue State, adding that his contributions to his immediate community Jechira and the entire state would always be remembered and cherished.
Rest in peace
