Group under the auspices of Benue South Coalition for Good Governance and Accountability, BSCOGGA, has lauded the Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government over the appointment of Prof Silas Ochejele as the pioneer Chief Medical Director, CMD, of the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo, Benue State.
Leader of the coalition, Engineer Ameh Johnson, who conveyed the feelings of the people in a statement made available to journalists at the weekend in Makurdi, described the pioneer CMD of FUSHSTH as a committed and hardworking person whose short period at the new facility has witnessed aggressive infrastructural development.
“Going by what we have seen so far in the area of infrastructural development in the teaching hospital and how our people no longer travel to Makurdi, Jos or Enugu for medical tourism, we sincerely appreciate the federal government for appointing a committed leader as pioneer CMD” the statement reads in path.
Engineer Ameh on behalf of the group equally expressed appreciation to the Benue State government for its magnanimity to hand over the General Hospital Otukpo for the take off of the Federal University Teaching Hospital, expressing hope that the mutual working relationship exhibited between the Benue State government and the federal government would promote rapid economic and political development of the area.
The group also acknowledged with satisfaction some of the achievements recorded within the short period to include construction of a 5- suite standard theatre, renovation and furnishing of call rooms for doctors in accidents and emergency wards as well as purchase of equipments and digitization of the hospital x-ray.
He disclosed that the CMD has repaired 40KVA and 20KVA generators as well as furnished the female and surgical wards of the hospital amongst others and called for his support to enable him succeed.
