Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to the Benue State Governor, Tersoo Kula, has challenged a section of the public, most especially members of the opposition and some National Assembly, NASS, members from the state accusing him of insulting the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume to come out and provide evidence.
Kula, who was reacting to the allegations when he interacted with journalists in Makurdi, describing those peddling such insinuations as enemies of the masses who are not happy with the all inclusive administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
He argued that those bent on causing disunity between Governor Alia and the SGF through whatever means such as the wicked mischief using his name are determined to destabilize the system for the present administration to reverse to the usual style where government was benefitting a few, insisting that his up bringing as a son of a soldier and strict disciplinarian with his training as a professional journalists would not allow him disrespect the SGF whom he regards a father figure, and urged those spreading the allegations to proof by providing video or audio clips for public judgement.
He accused Senator Titus Zam and Simon Abua; all aides of the SGF bent on causing disunity between the governor and the SGF using whatever means, recalling that at one instance Abua had allegedly in Gboko claimed that Governor Alia had taken about N3billion to Abuja to bribe for the removal of the SGF while he accused Senator Zam for always making derogatory remarks about the governor, describing such behaviour as unacceptable.
“With all these, as the chief press secretary who speaks for the government and the governor, they expect me to remain silent? So when I react to their mischief at times, because it is their stock in trade, they always find a way of dragging the SGF into such issues to cause more disaffection between the two dignitaries”. Kula explained.
The Chief Press Secretary, who described Governor Alia as unconventional leader who has come to power not as a partisan politician but a clergy whose mission is to fix the state as could be seen from what has happened within the short period of his government, explained that why the governor has refused to allow others run his administration is deliberate, to enable him own up to his actions and be accountable after the expiry of his tenure.
Kula, therefore appealed to Benue people especially the elites and politicians to rather support the governor to deliver his campaign promises to the masses.
