I’m leaving Kebbi with legacy of improved security, says outgoing CP

By Haruna Usman, Birnin Kebbi

Mr. Chris Aimionowane, the outgoing Kebbi State Police Commissioner; now promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, has said that he is leaving behind a legacy of improved security situation in the state.

He made the statement at Kebbi Police Command, Birnin Kebbi, on Thursday, during a send forth ceremony organised by the Command in his honour.

The new AIG, deployed to Inter Pol Unit in Abuja, said when he was posted to Kebbi some eight months ago, the news he heard about banditry occupied his mind and something within his heart told him to go he would overcome.

He noted that he and his men took up the challenge by engaging in regular patrols with sirens to tell the bandits they are battle-ready not minding from where they will strike, but nonetheless they have been able to push them back by killing and arresting them, hence the reason the state is witnessing relative peace.

Chris attributed the huge success to the untiring efforts of Kebbi Governor, Dr Nasir Idris who ensured they lacked nothing in terms of logistics and moral support to combat insecurity in the state.

He commended the Police Officers Wives Association, POWA, for their support even as they struggle without strong financial base.

“I must say I respect you, I am aware how you have been struggling to assist wives of deceased police officers with lean finances. God will bless you, and I will greatly miss all of you”.

Good will messages were given by POWA, PCRC, Edo community members in Kebbi and very senior police officers.
