Tasks FG on better welfare for NIS officers at the border

The Comptroller General, of Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has hinted that the service is working round the clock to actualise the e-border project already in the pipeline.
She disclosed this in Kebbi while on assessment of borders in the state to see the situations of the borders and the challenges of her staff manning the state borders.
According to her, the e-border permits immigration office is to see and control data at the center by directly getting information on the activities going on at the borders to ensure quick action and border security.
Kemi explained that there are lots to be done at the borders based on what she has seen herself.
“The president should do something on the welfare of the officers at the border because they lack accommodations as such their ability to effectively man the border has been hindered “.
Nandap stressed that a tight border guarantees tight security for the country therefore the need to assist immigration is inevitable in order to put eye on what comes in and out of the country.
“We have visited both land and marine borders at Lolo, Kamba and Kangiwa, what we saw is good but much needs to be done to ensure tight borders, Kebbi is a strategic place because it share borders with two countries that is why we have to come to see things the way they are”.
On human traffickers, the Comptroller General said that it will not be business as usual henceforth traffickers would be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others with similar intention.
