Kebbi Gov’t commends Wacot Rice Mills for supporting 7,600 farmers

Kebbi State Government has applauded the efforts of the Argungu Outgrower Expansion Programme (AOEP) which was designed specifically by Wacot Rice Mills Limited in conjunction with USAID and West Africa Trade and Investment Hub in order to enhance rice production in Nigeria.

The commendation was made by the state governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, in the address he delivered during the closing ceremony of AOE Programme held in Abuja

The governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Barrister Attahiru Maccido, described the programme as worthy of emulation to the state government, also thanked the management of Wacot for initiating Outgrower Programme on rice cultivation which lifted thousands of the rural dwellers out of abject poverty.

Barrister Maccido who briefed newsmen over the phone on the development, said Governor Nasir Idris could have been in the programme but, had directed him to tender apology for not being there, he commended Wacot management and other collaborators for initiating the programme.

No fewer than 7,600 smallholders farmers in Kebbi State,  including women and youth have been supported by Wacot Rice Mills Company Limited with agric-inputs to improved food security and to enhance agricultural yield,  sustainable land management and expanded access to financing.
