The organised labour, in Kebbi state, on Monday told the federal government that citizens and companies are suffocating over anti-people policies like the removal of fuel subsidy, increase in electricity rates tariff and reviewed taxes.
Murtala Usman, the NLC chairman, Kebbi state chapter who led the delegation of organised labour and Trade Union Congress in Birnin Kebbi to picket Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KEDC, district office and National Electricity Regulation Company, NERC, disclosed that the organised labour rejects the new tariff increase and is calling on the federal government to immediately revert to the old tariff and to continue to subsidy both electricity and petrol.
The labour chief, stressed the two company have outlived their usefulness by their inability to give equal and stable power supply since they cannot even maintain spoilt or replace gadgets but shifts the burden to consumers.
Organised labour, also ordered them to stop the segregation of electricity consumers in the form of so-called Band A, B, C etc, saying all Nigerians paying their bills deserve equal treatments.
“We equally rejects the Bands created by electricity companies in the country”.
Both NERC and KEDCO offices visited were shut down before the arrival of organised labour, addressing his team since no staff was seen in the offices.
Comrade Murtala said the federal government has sniffed out the remaining breath from Nigerians and companies operating in the country since they are being suffocated by the poor and unpopular policies of the government which has endangered the lives of KEDCO staff as they are being harassed and attacked by customers who thinks they increase the tariff.
