The men of Assemblies of God Lugbe Zone in the Abuja East District were better than their Garki counterparts on Saturday when they came from behind to equalise 1-1 in the ongoing Abuja East District Men Football Competition 2025 holding at Aco, along Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The match later went into penalty kick where each of the teams scored 3-3 as two players failed to score.
A player from Garki who played the last penalty kick lost his chance while the player from Lugbe converted and it gave his team their much-coveted victory.
Following the victory of the Lugbe team, they will now play Kuje in the final while Garki would confront Gwagwalada zone in the third-place match.
This the second edition of District Superintendent Cup of Abuja East District of Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria. The District Superintendent, Reverend Emmanuel Ottah performed the opening ceremony of the competition on Saturday, August 30, 2025, with a kick-off in a Match between Kuje and Gwagwalada.
Lugbe zone men are the defending champions having won first edition in their 2024 encounter.
Garki Zones featured players like Goodluck Chigozie (10), Young Otu (9), Iliya James (14), Emmanuel D’Jagli (1), Lawrence James (7), Emmanuel Clement (11), George Kingsley (6), Daniel Austine (4), Ibe Ndukwe (2), Nwosu Grant (8), Obinna Ubah (3), Samuel Musa (15), Ifeanyi Omenihu (12), Philemon Achuara (13), Hope Orji, and their coach is Tukura John.
On the other hand, the Lugbe Zone had in their team, Michael Ode (7), Obinna Aniakor (2), David Umeh (11), Eric Nnaji (44), Chidiebere Emoenyi (10), Elezua Uchenna (4), John Nathanael (77), Agba Christopher (1), Chukwuemeka Okoro (5), Jackson Usen (8), Isaac Akpa (22), Kenneth Ibeh (3), Simon Okoh (82), Eric Maduabuchi (9), Benjamin Odalo Ehis (35), Reuben Jonathan (6), and they had Coach Noble as their gaffer.
