Maikalangu receives Labour Party leaders into APC ahead 2026 FCT Councils polls

The camp of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairman, Honourable Christopher Maikalangu has continued to swell with the defection of the Labour Party chairman of Gwarimpa Ward as well as his woman leader, two councillorship aspirants and many other supporters who dumped their political party and embraced the All Progressives Congress (APC) in support of the incumbent AMAC chairman ahead of February 21, 2026 FCT Councils Election.

In a release issued by the Special Assistant to the AMAC chairman, Hon. Kingsley Madaki, the decampees were received by the APC chairman of AMAC, Hon. Zakari Babale who gave the former Labour Party members a right hand of fellowship.

“The decampees were warmly received by the diligent and steadfast APC Local Government Party Secretary, Hon. Zakari Babale, who welcomed them with open arms into the progressive family, assuring them of equal opportunities and inclusion”, Madaki said.

Speaking at the event, the new members and their supporters expressed great confidence in the leadership of Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, describing him as a true servant leader whose impact and developmental strides have transformed communities across the council.

They pledged their full loyalty and support to the APC and openly endorsed Hon. Maikalangu for a second term come 2026, vowing to mobilize even more grassroots support to ensure the continuity of good governance and people-centered development in AMAC.

Madaki also stated: “Today, the Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, warmly welcomed new members of the Labour Party who have chosen to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gwarimpa Ward. This significant development not only strengthens the APC in the area but also reflects the growing support for Hon. Maikalangu’s leadership.
