The chairman, National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, Comrade Kelani Abdulwaliyu has urged the governor of the state, Dr. Nasir Idris to embark on a total overhaul of Kebbi health sector for efficient and effective service delivery.
Speaking in Birnin Kebbi, the unionist who congratulated the governor on his victory at the apex court said that there is no better time than now to consolidate on the gains made so far in workers’ relationship with the governor, who happens to be one of them, to improve on what the state government is doing in the health sector.
He explained that the association is optimistic that the state government will turn around the health sector following regularisation of over a thousand casual workers across the hospitals in the state, which the union sees as step in the right direction to reposition the vital health sector critical to human existence.
On demands of the association, he said shortage of nurses and midwives across hospitals including Sir Yahya Memorial Hospital and others is a factor slowing efficient and effective healthcare services.
He further urged the governor to see the victory at the various courts as a call to do more because a lot is already being done in many sectors.
