The Nasarawa state House of Assembly Committee on Land and Survey under the leadership of Emmanuel Ezekiel Manding has commended the state Geographic Information System for wrecking in over N500 million revenue in four months.
The committee made the commendation when it hosted the Agency in continuation of the 2024 budget appraisal in Lafia on Friday.
The state House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Survey has applauded the success story achieved by the management of Nasarawa State Geographic Information System (NAGIS), commending the agency for achieving more than 50 percent of its targeted revenue for 2024 in four months.
Manding said if the agency can achieve this within four months, it is hopeful that before the end of the year, it would achieve more than the projected revenue target captured in 2024 budget.
The Chairman of the Committee said that the exercise was to appraise the budget performance of the agency for the first quarter and how to synergize for better Nasarawa State, and promised to give the agency all the needed support and cooperation to succeed.
The chairman expressed the committee readiness to synergize with NAGIS to enable it achieve greater success, noting that for NAGIS to generate over N500 million within four months out of its One billion target for 12 months then there is hope it will exceed the budget target by December this year and urged them to sustain the tempo.
Earlier, the Director General of NAGIS, Mr Sonny Agassi had told the lawmakers that the agency has generated the sum of Five Hundred and Thirty Six Million Naira as revenue between the months of January to April this year.
He commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his support to the agency and called on those, who are yet to register and collect their Certificate of Occupancy ( C of O) to come forward and do so as the agency is ready to provide the needed services.
The NAGIS DG said within the five years administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule, he signed over Ten Thousand (C of O) which has assisted the agency to record higher in terms of revenue generation and collection.
” Governor Abdullahi Sule surpassed all his predecessors in terms of signing of (C of O) as He has signed more than Ten Thousand (C of O) within 5 years. There was a time I presented 150 C of O to the Governor to sign, within two days, the Governor signed all. That shows his commitment to revenue generation.
In the same vein, the House Committee on Land and survey has revealed that the state governor, Abdullahi Sule signed over 10,000 Certificates of occupancy within his first five years in office, which they described as unprecedented in the over 24 years of state creation.
