The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, Kebbi State chapter, on Thursday held quarterly state executive council meeting at it secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.
The state Chairman, Comrade Kelani Abdulwaliyu, said that the essence of the quarterly meeting is to review performance of nurses across the state from different healthcare facilities operating in the state and to know the condition in which they are working.
He explained that, the meeting also seeks to receive data from members of the state executive council on problems faced at work by nurses and midwives and chart ways of improving on the services they are rendering to the public at various levels of healthcare abodes.
On the welfare of nurses in the state, he said the working condition of nurses under Governor Nasir Idris is fair to some extent even as he advocated increased in manpower and pay rise to boost the morale of his members and stop exodus of nurses to tertiary health facilities in search of greener pastures as such will not augur well for the state already seeking improved manpower.
The quarterly meeting was attended by branch chairmen and units leaders of the association who contributed on the ways to improve healthcare services and proffered solutions on welfare and safety of nurses and midwives wherever they are operating in the state.
Kelani who took turn to thank the governor for his support to hospitals in the state, appealed to him to improve the lot of practicing nurses and midwives in Kebbi State .
