NYCN zones presidency to north, adopts Khalifa as consensus candidate

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has hinted that it has zoned the post of the national presidency of the body to Northern Nigeria in the forthcoming elections.

The apex youth body in Nigeria made the disclosure during the joint stakeholders meeting in Kaduna which comprises serving and old states presidents of NYCYN who gathered to finetune the activities of council as it prepares for elections.

Speaking on the sidelines, Kebbi State President of the NYCN, Comrade Abubakar Ahmed Khalifa, who is now the consensus presidential candidate of NYCN thanked the southern part of the country for zoning the council’s presidential position to north particularly northwest and for also adopting him as sole candidate.

“We are profoundly grateful to southern part of our great council for zoning the post to north and for finding me worthy of the position”.

At the meeting, however, stakeholders unanimously commended the President Bola Tinubu-led government for her youth friendly policies which has helped to shape the future of Nigerian youth.

The stakeholders also adopted the rule provided by their constitution that only youth from 35 years of age are eligible to contest for elective post, which was also agreed by the Minister for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawale.

He stressed that NYCN and stakeholders at the meeting also agreed to hold extended meeting to resolve issues in 19 northern states to foster unity and to drum support before the election.

The stakeholders meeting deliberated on so many issues regarding the progress of the body and Nigerian youth who are the critical stakeholders in efforts to better their lives and to ensure all their rights are protected at all levels of government in Nigeria.
