National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, has carried out a free medical outreach at Zagga village in Bagudo local government area of Kebbi state.
The outreach is created by NYSC to offer free healthcare services to people with difficulty in accessing medical care particularly rural dwellers.
Speaking during the exercise, the NYSC state coordinator, Mr. Agatha Okolo Banki, said that the scheme has enough medical personnel from doctors to nurses and pharmacists to use in order to offer free medical care.
She added that part of the free medical care services include free test, free drugs to pregnant women and children and referrals for patients with serious health issues to be attended to by corps members doctors.
In his speech, the host and the district head of Zagga represented by Hakimin Zagga Abubakar Bube, thanked the NYSC for the good gesture saying the outreach is timely given the situation of the country as many rural dwellers cannot afford the exorbitant prices of drugs.
Also speaking, the chairman of Bagudo local government area, Alhaji Aliyu Sambo Zagga who described the outreach as timely urged the NYSC to sustain it, because of its importance to rural communities.
He said using the manpower and resources to attend to various health issues of members of the community is commendable.
