The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Nasarawa state, Emmanuel David Ombugadu has decried the worsening insecurity especially kidnapping in Nasarawa state, challenging the authorities concern to rise to their responsibility of securing and protecting citizens.
The former member of the House of Representatives in a statement while reacting to the high spate of insecurity in the state urged governments at all levels including the security agencies to provide a 24-hour security patrol in the entire state to stem criminal activities describing the recent upsurge in crimes in the state as worrisome and unacceptable
“The incessant kidnapping,, killing of high profile citizens of the state must not be allowed to persist in a peaceful state like Nasarawa.
“Communities in Nasarawa state deserve to be given adequate protection, guaranteed safety in a society where government considers lives of its citizenry a priority. The situation in Nasarawa state is worrisome not only to the affected residents, but to the people of the entire state”.
He wondered whether kidnapping has now become part of daily life in Nasarawa state citing cases of kidnap of the students of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, those of the Federal University Lafia, Akwanga Local government chairman and his friend as well as the recent abduction of Daniel Umaru Lagi, father of former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Nasarawa State, Barrister Innocent Lagi.
According to Dr. Ombugadu, citizens in a peaceful state like Nasarawa should not be made to be living on knife edge in their motherland as a result of bad governance.
Ombugadu, said the widespread insecurity and chaos been exacerbated by the routine kidnapping as armed group tighten their stranglehold on the citizens in the state and must be tackled as a responsible government.
