Men of Operation Zenda, Joint Task Force of the Nigeria Police, Benue State Command, Tuesday, arrested a 35- year- old woman,Faith Torkule allegedly involved in armed banditry.
Commander of the JTF Superintendent of Police Felix Nomiyugh had stated that the suspect was apprehended at Gbagir village in Tyuruv council ward of Ukum Local Government Area, along Wukari-Zaki Biam road at Ayati junction following intelligence report.
The female bandit who confirmed to the crime during police investigation also confessed being an associate of the dreaded and vicious armed bandit and kidnap kingpin also known as Ukum Dekera a.k.a, Chen Operating in the area.
SP Nomiyugh further disclosed that two hundred live ammunition of purpose machine gun,PMG, and 177 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered from the suspect.
He also revealed that the gang leader of the group is alleged to have been terrorising areas around Ukum, Joortar, Wukari and other adjoining villages in the local area, adding that settlement areas at the bothers of Ukum LGA in Benue State and Wukari in Taraba states have equally suffered in the hands of the bandits for many years despite presence of security operations in the area with the people knowing no peace before luck ran out of the woman.
The state commander of operations Zenda/JTF, SP Felix Nomiyugh who reiterated commitment of the joint taskforce to reduce crime in the state especially in Sankera, disclosed that investigation into the matter is still on going.
