Over 300 houses, 2000 farmlands submerged in Sokoto

About 300 households were forced to vacate their homes in Sanyinna town of Sokoto due to heavy downpour while about 2000 farmlands were washed.

Due to heavy overflooding, many people were rendered homeless as their houses collapsed, properties including farm products lost as water submerged homes and farmlands in the southern part of Sanyinna.

The downpour that lasted for over 12 hours forced residents to evacuate their belongings including animals from their collapsed houses.

One of the victims who spoke with NationsPride Media said the most worrying issue is that the flooding was believe to be as a result of overflow of Shagari Earth Dam that is speedily on the increase.
