The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Working Committee has given its stamp of approval to the Benue State Congress and election of the Executive Committee Members held on October 3, 2024, in Makurdi.
This congress produced, former National Assembly lawmaker, Ezekiel Adaji as the new State Chairman.
The approval letter, signed by National Organizing Secretary Umar Bature, made available to journalists in Makurdi, congratulated Adaji and his team, expressing optimism that they will lead the party to success in the state.
Bature in the letter highlighted that the approval was granted after careful consideration of the Electoral Committee and Appeal Panel reports.
Others, according to the statement include; Azua Ashongo- State Deputy Chairman, Daniel Nyikwagh-State Secretary, Tivzua Zuana-State Treasurer, Tim Nyor- State Publicity Secretary, Agbakor Emmanuel- State Legal Adviser, Adokwu Emmanuel- State Financial Secretary, Albert Alice- State Woman Leader, Akua Ngueren-State Auditor, Ibya Atondo Francis- State Youth Leader, Aba Caleb- State Organizing Secretary, Abraham Waloh- State Vice Chairman,Tyona Gbenyi- State Vice Chairman, Uche Augustine- State Vice Chairman, Dennis Yange- State Assistant Secretary, Robert Hembe- State Assistant Secretary, Onoja Charles- State Assistant Secretary, Unoh Iordemenongo- State Assistant Treasurer, Paul Igyenger- Assistant Treasurer, Idakwo Silas- State Assistant Treasurer and Akpan Isaac- State Assistant Legal Adviser, among others.
He said the approved list of executive members will serve for four years, as stipulated in Section 47(1) of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).
According to Bature, the approval is a significant development for the PDP in Benue State, adding that it has equally demonstrated the party’s commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law.
