Pharmacist Chilaka Sigmund Chimeziem, the leading aspirant of the Labour Party, LP, for the chairmanship position of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, ahead the 2026 FCT Area Councils election, has reaffirmed his commitment to run an all-inclusive government, ensuring that every ward chairman in the area council has a voice and a role to play in the decision-making process.
This promise was made during his engagement with the ward chairmen of the party on Tuesday in Abuja where he outlined his vision for AMAC, if elected, and solicited their support in clinching the party’s ticket ahead of the councils elections.
Chilaka’s assurance of an inclusive government resonated deeply with the ward chairmen, who unanimously agreed to work with him. However, they made it clear that their support was contingent upon Chilaka’s commitment to obtaining the expression of interest form and demonstrating his readiness to collaborate with them.

This development is significant, as it underscores the importance of grassroots support in Nigerian politics. By engaging directly with ward chairmen, Chilaka is acknowledging the critical role they play in shaping the party’s agenda and mobilizing support at the local level.
AMAC, which comprises 12 wards; City Centre, Garki, Wuse, Kabusa, Jiwa, Gwarinpa, Gui, Karshi, Orozo, Karu, and Nyanya, is a crucial battleground in the forthcoming Area Council Elections. Chilaka’s ability to secure the support of ward chairmen across these wards will be instrumental in determining his chances of competing with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, All Progressives Congress, APC, as well as other political parties.
