The placards carrier protesters in their thousands with different inscriptions demanding policies that better the lots of Nigerians calling for reversing or abolishing fuel subsidy.

According to them, President Bola Tinubu’s administration brought a lot of hunger to the Nigerian citizenry blaming him for implementing policies that were not geared toward providing a good standard of living for Nigerians.

Our reporter who monitored the protest reported that the Nigeria Army’s quick intervention saved the situation as they escorted the protest to ensure there was no violence and breakdown of law and orders.

Earlier, the Ughelli North council chairman, Barr. Jaro Egbo cautioned and barred protesters from entering the streets of Ughelli and environs saying Oharisi Primary School is the designated area for the protesters to exercise their rights.

“We acknowledge there is hunger in the land, price of foodstuff and commodities has skyrocketed, if we allow protesters to block roads and streets that could lead to something else, the safety of lives and properties may not be guaranteed as hoodlums will hijack the protest”.
