Agema who was reacting to activities of revenue racketeers observed with dismay the nefarious activities of such hoodlums who operate illegal checkpoints in the state, particularly at Akerior in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The BIRS boss in a statement signed by his media assistant Jacintha Bernard in Makurdi, described as worrisome the illicit behavior of the hoodlums in the act of extorting money and harassing innocent vehicle owners with their latest victims, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, officials who were conveying palliatives for the state.

Agema who warned against the illicit behavior, equally frawned at the act which according to him is capable of frustrating efforts of the Agency and governmet in providing succour to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in the state.

The Acting Chairman who reiterated the resolve of his administration to clamp down on all operators of illegal checkpoints in the state, warned that anyone caught operating illegal roadblock in the state especially at Akerior would be arrested and handed over to law enforcement agents for prosecution.

He further disclosed that the service would continue with its war against racketeers who dent the image of the state by frustrating economic activities.
