The vice chairmanship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the forthcoming FCT Council Elections, Honourable Georgina Ngufa Jogo, has lamented what she described as poor maintenance culture by the present AMAC chairman, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, despite the high statutory allocation he receives every month.
The SDP candidate raised this alarm on Monday when she paid an unscheduled visit to Kwoyi community in Orozo electoral ward of AMAC, where she observed that the LEA primary school at the community is the only government presence available to the people, but lamented that the school which was commissioned in 2009 is in a very bad shape.
“I am not impressed coming here to see that people are living without any evidence of democracy. The primary school, which represents government’s presence has no desks; children are lying on the bare floor to write, no toilet, no sign of water, and over 800 people are living in this place. No primary healthcare centre; in fact, it is a pity that this particular place is in existence in FCT. There is no access road to this place”.
She called on the residents of AMAC to unite behind SDP in the coming election so that they would enjoy the dividends of democracy, especially social amenities as the party would make AMAC a better place to live than what they are experiencing under the present administration.
“As we are all talking about SDP, this is the only solution, because our manifesto is to assist people, go to communities that are lacking behind to upgrade them, provide good roads, schools, hospital and portable drinking water, and make the environment clean and conducive for them to live.
“By the time SDP government comes to power through our chairmanship candidate, Dr. Obinna Simon, he will surely upgrade this place. At that time, the people living in Kwoyi and other communities would know that there is government in existence”.
Dr. Obinna Simon, popularly called ‘MC Tagwaye’ is the chairman candidate of the SDP for AMAC while Georgina Ngufa Jogo is his running mate ahead of the February 21, 2026 polls.
