No fewer than 1,291 under-graduate students from seven selected universities across the country have benefited from Senator Garba Musa Maidoki’s constituency education grants.
The three-day disbursement which was flagged off at Federal University of Agriculture Zuru in Kebbi State will disburse the funds to students from Kebbi South senatorial district after they were carefully selected from seven benefitting universities.
Senator Maidoki, said that the education grants is part of efforts to encourage students from such universities to pay attention to their studies.
“Though it’s a token from us, we hope it would go a long way in assisting you in your educational pursuit at your different universities”.
The seven-man disbursement committee led by Professor Ahmed Sanda, stated that the benefitting universities include Usmanu Dan Fodio University Sokoto, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Federal University of Agriculture Zuru, Bayero University Kano, University of Jos and Kebbi State University of Science and Technology.
According to Professor Sanda, all students of the selected universities who are from Kebbi South and studying at 100-level are the beneficiaries of the education grants geared towards boosting their morale to attain their education targets of becoming graduates in their chosen disciplines.
However, Senator Maidoki in his goodwill message during the flag off, commended Professor Ahmed Sanda and members of his committee for carefully selecting the students from the seven universities without bias.
The disbursement was attended by top traditional rulers of Zuru Emirate, politicians and members of the academia across the state, while thanking the committee for their good and judicious job. Senator Maidoki announced that plans are underway to screen school leavers for yet another grants.
