Minister of state for Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Mutawalle, announced that during an assessment visit on security situation in Isa, Sabon Birni and Goronyo local governments areas that eastern roads in Sokoto State would soon be officially reopened for commuters.
Alhaji Bello Mutawalle said the reopening of the road was sequel to the appeal made by Governor Ahmed Aliyu before President Bola Tinubu.
The minister said sequel to that, the president directed him to return to Sokoto and conduct assessment on where more military formations should be set up.
He also expressed appreciation with the governor’s commitment to providing all the necessary requirements for the establishment of the formations.
The Minister of state for Defence said three formations would be set up in Isah and Sabon Birni local government areas.
According to him, the formations would be located at Gundumi in Isa as well as Mailalle and Tsamaye in Sabon Birni.
Alhaji Bello Matawalle said more efforts would be intensified in the fight against banditry adding that already some of their leaders have been neutralised.
He therefore, called for sustain prayers and support from people for the attainment of the set objectives.
Director Press Deputy Governor’s office, Garba Muhammad in a statement said the state Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir earlier enumerated various support and assistance rendered by the state government in the fight against banditry.

In their separate comments, the chairman of Isa, Alhaji Sherifu Abubakar Kamarawa and that of Sabon Birni Alhaji Ayuba Hashimu as well as Goronyo, Engineer Zubairu Yari acknowledged the improvement of security situation in their respective areas.
They however, appealed for sustain efforts to eliminate banditry in their various camps within the three local government areas.
