The Sokoto State Goverment has released N150 million as its counterpart funding for the Adolescent Girls initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.
This was announced by the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Muhammad Tukur Alkali during a one-day training session for enumerators on data collection for conditional cash transfers in targeted secondary schools.
Tukur Alkali emphasized that this investment ensures the smooth takeoff of the project, aligning with the state government’s nine -point agenda, which prioritizes education development. Represented by Alhaji Abdulkadir Alkammawa, Director of Quality Assurance, the Commissioner assured that the state government would sustain its commitment to the project.
Dr. Mansur Isa Buhari, State Coordinator of the AGILE project, explained that the project, scheduled to commence in October, is a collaboration between the state government and the World Bank. He highlighted that necessary mechanisms are being established to ensure the project achieves its objectives regarding adolescent girls education in selected secondary schools.
Participants expressed their readiness to apply the knowledge gained during the training to achieve the project’s goals.
