Sokoto State government said it is fully committed to polio eradication in the state. State Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir stated this at a meeting with stakeholders on the eradication of polio held at Villa One, Sokoto.
The deputy governor who is also the state chairman Task Force on Polio Eradication said concerted efforts are being made to ensure that Sokoto became polio-free state.
He said government is ready to render all the necessary support toward realising the set objective.
Deputy governor’s spokesman, Garba Muhammad, said the deputy governor who stood in for Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto however stressed the need for synergy among all the stakeholders in that direction.
Alhaji idris Gobirawa however warned that government would not condone any act capable of jeopardising the goal.
In his comment, the secretary to the state government, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, called on all ministries and agencies involved in the exercise to remain steadfast for the success of the exercise.
Alhaji Bello Sifawa also appealed to all field workers to remain dedicated in their responsibilities.
Commenting, the state commissioner for Health, Hajiya Assabe Balarabe, said mothers have crucial role to play toward combating polio.
The commissioner assured of her ministry’s resolved to leave no stone unturned in the fight to eradicate polio.
In his address, the Special Adviser to the governor on State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Alhaji Bello Garba said efforts would be intensified to ensure personal and environmental hygiene among people of the state.
He said this would greatly assist in ensuring the eradication of polio in the state.
