Sokoto Government, Wamakko donate N20m, food items to bandits’ victims

Sokoto State Government has donated N10 million, four trucks of rice and maize to families affected by banditry in Isa Local Government.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu stated this while speaking at the flagging off of relief materials distribution to the affected families in the area.

According to him, the gesture is aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the families of those killed and kidnapped in the series of attacks by bandits in the area.

He also announced a donation of N10 million from Senator Aliyu Wamakko in addition to the 10 million naira as well as four trucks of rice and maize totaling 2,400 bags.

According to the governor’s press secretary, Abubakar Bawa the governor said, “We are indeed worried by the activities of bandits in our dear state.

“As a government, we are doing everything humanly possible to end banditry through various means, such as giving our security agencies all the needed support to secure the state”.

Governor Aliyu, while commending the effort of the security agencies in securing the state, tasked them to put in more efforts in that direction.

“In order to further compliment the effort of our security personnel, we established the Sokoto State Community Guards Corps with the sole aim of protecting our rural dwellers”, he added.

Governor Aliyu also appealed to the people of the state especially in the areas worst affected by banditry to always assist the security agencies with relevant information on any suspicious movement.

Also speaking, the APC leader in the State, Sen Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, commended Gov. Aliyu for executing various people-oriented projects across the state.

He called on the people of the state to continue to support the present administration in its effort to develop the state.

The highlight of the event was the inauguration and distribution of the food items to some of the benefitting families, which was performed by the former Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammed Maigari Dingyadi, Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammad Gobir, Speaker, SOHA, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga as well as the members representing Kware/Wamakko Federal Constituency, Ahmed Abdullahi Kalambaina and that of Bodinga Dange/Shuni Tureta, Nasiru Shehu.
