Sokoto PDP chairman faulted over ‘unsubstantiated’ allegation

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

The former Provost, Shehu Shagari College of Education and chairman of Sokoto Concerned Supporters, Professor Hamza Muhammad Maishanu, has faulted the Sokoto State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bello Aliyu Goronyo, over his purported allegation made on June 2, 2024, that some members of the party in the state were contracted by others to come and destroy the PDP.

He lamented that such provocative statements coming from such echelon of the party would undoubtedly sow seeds of discord in the party.

According to him, “Consequent upon this, we sought an audience with the chairman to get further clarification, but he declined.

“We request the chairman to buttress the veracity of his allegations as who are those contracted to destroy the PDP in Sokoto, who contracted them to do the dastardly act, how much was paid or promised to execute this contract, and where was this contract made.” He stated

He said answers to these questions are necessary for the well-being of the party members in the state whereas these questions are not answered, it will create a wedge among party members.

“We as concerned members in Sokoto state are democrats, we want democracy to thrive in the party, we would not accept appointments or crowning of party leaders to satisfy primordial and selfish interests. Let the party members choose their leaders from the ward level to the state leadership”, the Professor averred.
