The Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board, Sokoto Alh Umar Nagwari Tambuwal has reassured of the Boards commitment towards sustaining any programme introduced by development partners aimed at improving teaching and learning in the state especially at the basic level of education.
He gave the assurance while inaugurating State Technical Group and flag off of the Early Grade Reading at a stakeholders meeting organised by Leveraging Education Assistance Resource in Nigeria LEARN to Read held at Fodio Hall, Guest Inn, Sokoto.
The Boards spokesman, Danladi Tsamaye said the chairman averred that state government under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto accords priority particularly to basic education with a view to improving the education at all levels.
He maintained that Early Grade Reading EGR pilot phase program in Nigeria is timely and strategic to address poor learning outcomes in schools.
State Head Service, Suleiman S. Fulani Ahmadu said the program was long overdue due to its significance considering education is the bedrock of development in any society.
According to him, State is always ready to join hands in the implementation of programmes of this nature for its rapid development.
Commissioner Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Muhammad Tukur Alkali represented by Director Basic Schools of the Ministry Malam Abdulrahman Muhammad called on the participants to concentrate on what they are going to learn.
Secretary of the SUBEB Alh. and Chairman Steering Technical Group Mahmud Ahmad Wamakko the programme is the first of its kind in Africa and Nigeria Sokoto is one of the thirteen benefitting states.

Alh Abdulkadir N. Gada Hajiya Jamila Abdulkadir Dan’ute commended the foresight of the organisers of the programme and urged the committee members to be up and doings for the success of the programme.
,The meeting had in attendance Board Member Four Alh Garba Sarki, Acting Director Administration, Alh Tukur Abdullahi, Director ECCD Alh Garba Bello Arkilla and Director JSS Malama lami Mukhtar as well as other senior and Junior staff of the board.
Members of the Technical Group inaugurated include patron, Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Muhammad Tukur Alkali, State Chairman Steering Group, Alh Mahmud Ahmad Wamakko, Director Social Mobilisation SUBEB, Hajia Rabi Gwadabawa, Director Planning SUBEB, Alh Musa M. Bello Sokoto, State Chairman SBMC, Malam Junaidu Umar Jabo, Regional Adviser LEARN to Read, Malam Ahmad Alh Umar, Education Secretary Goronyo LGEA, Kabiru Muhammad and desk officer of board Alh Aminu Ibrahim Wamakko serve as secretary of the group.
