The chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Benue State Chapter, Comrade Hembadoon Orsar, has been appointed secretary of the Media and Publicity Committee for the SWAN@60 anniversary celebration.
Her letter of appointment was signed by the National SWAN leadership, comprising President Isaiah Benjamin and Secretary General Ikenna Okonkwo.
Information available to journalists indicates that the Media and Publicity Committee is a seven-member team chaired by Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of SWAN in Anambra, with Emmanuel Akpan, Chairman of Akwa Ibom Chapter, serving as vice chairman.
Other members include Ahmed Amshi, Vice President North East; Jacob Onjewu, Secretary Kaduna State Chapter; and two Graphics/Info-Graphic experts.
The committee’s terms of reference include engaging with relevant media platforms to generate and disseminate content regarding the SWAN@60 anniversary, evolving creative and practical ways to ensure robust content generation and dissemination, and contributing to making the SWAN official website robust with relevant information.
The National Secretariat expects the committee members to uphold the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions.
The committee’s appointment took effect from October 6, 2025, will continue after the anniversary as a standing committee.
Reacting to her appointment during an interview with sports journalists Thursday in Makurdi, Miss Orsar, expressed appreciation to the National officials for finding her worthy to serve on the committee.
She promised to work in synergy with other members of the committee for the success of the anniversary.
