The Kebbi State capital, Birnin Kebbi, over 16 years ago wears the look of an advanced local government headquarters because of absence of critical infrastructure deserving of a state capital thus it became a laughingstock among its pairs.
States created before or after Kebbi state led in terms of infrastructure and states of the art facilities that defines a state capital.
Successive Governments in Kebbi state, however, wittingly or unwittingly paid little or no attention to the state capital leaving it high and dry in terms of infrastructure developments.
Flashy roads and landscape round abouts in the heart of the city gives flavour to visitors and the indigenes themselves who feels comfortable to bring visitors from other states.
Governor Idris, who took the mantle of leadership in less than two years in Kebbi immediately and aggressively confronted infrastructure deficit in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.
Angered by poor infrastructure in the state capital, Idris constructed no fewer than twenty major roads in the state capital spanning from the main entrance of the state capital from Bulasa to welcome to Birnin Kebbi a dual carriageway with solar streets lights greets visitors with a state of the art round about.
However, Birnin Kebbi alone has about ten modern roundabouts: the type seen in many major cities across the country all in efforts to define the state capital long abandoned by past Governments in Kebbi.
For even distribution of infrastructure, the governor constructed new roads in Argungu, Yauri, Kamba/ Bani Zumbui and a huge one Koko/ Dabai of 17 kilo meters which is a federal standard road taken over by the state government because of its importance to the people of Zuru who were neglected long ago.
Additionally, no fewer than fifty standard bridges were constructed where necessary to connect villages with urban areas and to fight flooding across the state.
Determined to boost trades between Kebbi state and other states, he constructed a modern motor park with state of the art facilities housing nearly two hundred commercial vehicles,a befitting guest house, malls and shops.
The new motor pack enjoys 24hrs solar power supply for security and night travels.
