The Trade Unions Congress, TUC, Kebbi State chapter, has called on the minimum wage committee to expedite action on the new minimum wage in the state.
The TUC state chairman, Alhaji Atiku Alkali, said that as far as they are concerned, Governor Nasir Idris has done his part by setting up the committee for the minimum wage.
Alkali explained that, the committee which comprises organised labour is saddled with the responsibility of coming up with a sustainable minimum wage for Kebbi workers which the governor pledged to implement at once.
The union commended the governor for projects that are being done including the completion of ultra-modern state secretariat which when completed would house all the ministries in Kebbi state.
“We commend him for the state secretariat projects, human capacity building and prompt payment of workers’ salaries and gratuities “.
Worthy of mention is the pledge to recruit 2,000 teachers in the state which the union believes would boost education and increase manpower in education sector.
