The Kebbi State correspondent of Television Continental (TVC News) Hauwa Muhammed was on Wednesday sworn in as Kebbi State secretary, National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).
Hauwa, a member of Kebbi State Correspondents’ Chapel emerged unopposed in an election that was keenly contested in other elective post of the association conducted by the electoral committee under a peaceful atmosphere.
The polls adjudged credible, free and fair was supervised by national officials of the association particularly the national secretary, Hajiya Wasila Ladan.
However, the chairperson of NAWOJ, Kebbi State, Hajiya Hassana Koko retained her post alongside other excos of the association.
Speaking shortly after the swearing in ceremony, the newly sworn-in state secretary, Hauwa Muhammed thanked the screening committee, electoral body, Kebbi State governor, Dr Nasir Idris for his support to the association.
“I am so elated today to witness my inauguration as NAWOJ state secretary, no doubt is a day I will not forget in a hurry, I thank all working journalists in Kebbi state who directly or indirectly contributed to my success”.
Notable figures at the inauguration include the commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, Alhaji Muhammed Tukur Dutsin Mari – a key national figure from the Nigeria union of journalists and Kebbi State chairman NUJ, Muhammed Bello Sarkin among other top veteran female journalists in Kebbi state.
