Umar Shayi turbaned Hero of Balaa Waja Kingdom in Gombe

Dr. Umar Aliyu Shayi, the Director-General of the Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency, Commander Police Constabulary Unit and Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has been turbaned as the first ‘Jarmin Waja’ (Hero of Waja) by the Balaa Waja Kingdom in Gombe State.

The kingdom said the turbaning of Shayi was as a result of his extraordinary commitment and efforts in the fight against banditry, terrorism and crimes.

According to a statement from the Emirate Council, Dr Umar Aliyu Shayi was the first prominent figure to be turbaned in this important and strategic title in the history of this kingdom.

Meanwhile, the event witnessed and attracted large crowd across Africa, Asia, and Arabian world including the presence of commander of Nigerian Forestry Security Service *NFSS) alongside other notable security chiefs from all part of the world.

Ambassador Shayi has been contributing effectively and eminently in the areas of combating terrorism and curbing out banditry, cattle rustling, phone snatching and all forms of criminal activities.

The Head, Global Center in the Fight Against Terrorism London, Professor Graham Prescott noted that Dr Umar Shayi is a rare gem with total characteristics feature and commitment to the fight against terrorism in Africa.

He equally appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for appointing Umar Shayi in this strategic position and applauded all conventional and non-conventional security agencies in deploying their best globally acceptable tactics and tactical skills in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.

He further commended CP Sani Umar of Bauchi State Police Command along with his counterparts for well-done jobs.

“The center is being domicile in Central London with her obligations to gather valuable intelligence in global policing with view to fighting all forms of terrorist activities and terrorism”, the statement concluded
