The combined Kebbi core health practitioners under the aegis of Kebbi Health Assembly, has commended the governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris for the timely upward review of their renumeration.
Speaking on behalf of the combined health body, Comrade Kilani Abdulwaliyu who is also the state Chairman of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Widwives, NANNM, stated that there is no better time than now to appreciate the governor for his unprecedented pay rise for all the state workers particularly health workers who have been grappling with issues of inadequate salaries compared to their counterparts in other healthcare abodes.
Kelani added that the new package is not only a morale booster but a huge call to health workers in the state to remain ever committed to their official duties of saving lives as they have been doing.
Additionally, the recent wage increase will kill the appetite of practicing health professionals in the state service from desiring to leave for greener pastures even as those who left the service for tertiary health institutions will return to salvage the health sector.
“Let me, on behalf of the health assembly, appreciate Comrade Idris for his various interventions in the health sector ranging from renovations and expansion of hospitals in the state, provision of laboratory equipment, procurement of drugs in various pharmacies in the state is highly commendable”.
The health assembly comprises NANNM, Pharmacist Society of Nigeria, PSN, Association of Medical Laboratories Scientists of Nigeria, AMLSN, and Medical and Health Workers Union among others.
