The Actors Guild of Nigeria, FCT chapter, has unveiled a two-week masterclass for aspiring actors living within Abuja and other neighbouring states. The event is to equip participants and turn them into potential superstars in the movie industry.
Speaking to newsmen during a press conference in Abuja on Friday, the Mayor of the AGN, Abuja Chapter, Mercy Salma Aminu said Nigeria is a land of immense talent and creativity and so opportunity has come to produce more actors who will receive advanced training from industry experts who have mastered their craft in Nollywood, Hollywood, and Bollywood.
According to her, “Our stories are vibrant, our culture is rich, and our people are filled with passion. Yet, despite all this potential, many of our talented actors have not had the opportunities or resources to truly shine on the global stage. That is why this masterclass is so important—it is more than just a series of workshops; it is a pathway to empowerment, a bridge to success, and a chance to turn dreams into reality.
“You will delve into the intricacies of character development, master on-camera techniques, and refine your audition skills. But beyond these technical skills, you will gain something even more valuable—confidence, empowerment, and the belief that you can achieve greatness”.
She added that participants stand a chance to win incredible prizes, including state-of-the-art cameras, lighting equipment, and other essential tools that can kick-start their journey into professional acting.
“These prizes are not just rewards; they are investments in your future, empowering you to continue honing your craft long after the masterclass has ended.
“Imagine yourself, not only equipped with the skills and knowledge from this masterclass but also with the tools you need to create, to innovate, and to bring your unique stories to life. Picture yourself shooting your own short film with the camera you won, sharing your vision with the world, and making a mark in the industry”.
She called on Nigerians to support the laudable project and take change to be part of something truly special as their support will not only empower individual actors but will also help to build a stronger, more vibrant creative industry in Nigeria.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the time is now. Let us come together, let us support this masterclass, and let us empower the next generation of Nigerian actors to shine their brightest”, Mercy added.
