The state chairman, Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission, Alhaji Aliyu Mera, on Sunday declared the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner of the local councils polls held on Saturday across the state.
According to him, all the 21 local councils chairmen and their counselors have won elections keenly contested by 17 political parties in the state.
“Having satisfied all the requirements and won all the total votes are hereby declared winners of the local councils polls held on Saturday across the state”.
Mera, who expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the elections, described it as peaceful, free and credible despite criticism.
Recall that, prior to the elections, the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, withdrew from the race citing high administrative charges as well as accused the state electoral body of compromise.
