A new Police Commissioner Emmanuel Adesina has assumed duty in Benue State.
In a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Sewuese Anene, Thursday, said Adesina who hails from Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun state holds a Bachelor of Science degree, Hons in Sociology from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos in 1989 and went to bag a master’s degree in criminology at the University of Ibadan.
According to the statement, CP Adesina got enlisted into the prestigious Nigerian Police Academy as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, on May 18 1992, adding that as a young officer, he served in various states across the country including; Anambra, Kwara, Oyo, Ondo and notably Benue State, where he served as PPRO of Benue State Command in 1997-2002.
He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP in charge of operations and Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP also in charge of operations before his new appointment.
The statement added that CP Adesina was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police on January 31 2024 and posted to Benue State as the 41st Commissioner of Police Benue State command.
Adesina described by many as detribalised and dutiful on assumption pledged his commitment to use his wealth of experience to fight crime as well as ensure safety of lives and property in the state.
He equally called on the good people of Benue State to support the police with useful and timely information to fight criminality.
