Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has congratulated Monday Okpebholo on his victory in the Edo State governorship election, held last Saturday.
Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, won with 291,667 votes, defeating Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 247,274 votes.
Governor Alia in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Monday in Makurdi, described Senator Okpebholo’s victory as a win for democracy, noting that the APC’s success in the Edo State governorship election reflects the trust and love the people of Edo and Nigerians have in the APC-led government’s policies and programs.
The Governor assured Okpebholo of his support and a robust working relationship to promote the progress of their respective states and the country.
He also prayed for Okpebholo’s good health and long political life as he prepares to lead Edo State.
The Benue governor equally urged his Edo counterpart to utilize his victory as a platform to provide purposeful leadership to the people of Edo State and beyond.
