The management of Kaduna Electricity Company, KEDCO, has condemned in strong terms the industrial action embarked upon by National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, which affects Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

The chief regional manager of the company in charge of the affected states, Mr. Sunday said that the motive behind the industrial action is unknown to the management, because the union should not have used this holy month of Ramadan to inflict pains on hapless Nigerians.

He explained that, part of the reason for the industrial action, which includes payment of pensions arrears accumulated by two administrations, and the union had not pushed for the payment, but chose to down tools during Ramadan to subject customers to untold misery at a time they are seeking favours and mercies.

“This is unjustifiable, improper and is hereby condemnable in all ramifications.

“We urged our esteem customers to go about their usual businesses unhindered as the company is working hard despite the strike to maintain power supplies in the affected states.

Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi may experience little power challenges as management and union go head-to-head to iron out grey areas to curtail further sufferings of innocent customers.
