Kebbi Government restores water supply to public after pipeline burst

The Kebbi State Government has assured residents of Birnin Kebbi metropolis that water supply will be fully restored on Tuesday next week following the completion of ongoing repair works at the Dukku Water Works.

The Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Bello Abdullahi Kaoje flanked by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry and the General Manager of Kebbi Water Board, Alhaji Isah Arzika and Engr. Zaiyanu Shehu , on Saturday gave this assurance while providing an update on the efforts being made to address the disruption caused by a burst pipe at the facility.

According to the Commissioner, intensive repair work is currently underway at the Dukku Water Works to resolve the technical issues, adding that progress recorded so far has been steady and encouraging.

He disclosed that the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris has constituted a high-powered taskforce committee to overseeing the restoration process and ensuring timely completion of the repairs.

The committee is chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, and includes three commissioners as well as permanent secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources.

Providing details on the level of work achieved so far, the Commissioner explained that engineers have successfully tested both the high-lift and low-lift pumps and confirmed that they are fully functional.

He added that technicians are currently drying moisture from the equipment cores, after which reassembly will be completed on Monday.
