The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Jigawa State Council has visited Radio Nigeria Horizon FM in Dutse on Thursday, aiming to strengthen collaboration with media organizations throughout the state.
During the visit, Chairman of the Union, Comrade Isma’il Ibrahim Dutse, introduced the newly elected council executive members and emphasized the purpose of the visit; aimed to foster mutual cooperation between the two organizations, promote responsible journalism, and improve the welfare of media professionals.
Comrade Dutse commended the General Manager of the station for his dedication to revitalizing the Radio station. “When we came here for our campaign, we sympathized with the staff considering the dilapidated structure we met, which was not conducive for the workers. However, within a short period, the station has undergone remarkable changes.”
The Chairman expressed appreciation for the warm reception and valuable advice received from the GM, who is also a member of the Veterans Committee.
Meanwhile He highlighted achievements such as the renovation of the NUJ Secretariat, the development of an ICT center, and plans to upgrade the solar power system.
The Chairman also informed Horizon FM management about NUJ’s initiative to launch an online news platform to enhance public information dissemination, seeking further guidance and mentorship from seasoned media leaders for continued progress.
Responding, the General Manager, Alhaji Habibu Nuhu Kila described the visit as historic and commendable. He praised the council’s achievements in training and digital development and supported the idea of launching an online news outlet.
Kila advised the council to remain focused and to ignore distractions, encouraging the implementation of positive programmes for the advancement of the profession. He pledged Horizon FM’s full support and collaboration in content creation and other areas.
The Secretary of the Radio Nigeria Horizon FM Chapel, Comrade Umar Ladan, reaffirmed the Chapel’s loyalty to the state council and its readiness to contribute to unity and professional growth.
