Barrister Ibrahim Babangida Birema, son in-law of Tanimu Turaki, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared his intention to run for Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo and Bunza Federal Constituency under the platform of the PDP.
The private lawyer in a statement signed by him said he decided to join the race to accualise the ‘Not-too-young-to-run’ agenda in Nigeria’s politics, saying the political seats particularly in the House of Representatives has been taken over by aged people blocking way for young bloods.
“Our system has been invaded by the old politicians therefore, we that have vision and huge plans for youth decided to join politics to bring an end to old politicians and put a stop to their political dominance”.
Birema stated that as a private lawyer he has gathered enough experience in lawmaking, therefore it will be easy to formulate policies beneficial to youth in the country.
He stressed that youth in Nigeria are often afraid of politics because they think it is impossible to go up against the rich old hands in the game of politics.
“I am determined and driven by self-confidence that with the support of my potential constituents, together we can weather the storm” he said.
He urged young and old in his constituency to rally round him to deliver dividends of democracy to people regardless of race, religion, age and tribe.
