A leading chairmanship aspirant of the Labour Party for Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, in the 2026 FCT councils elections, Pharmacist Chilaka Sigmund Chimeziem, has picked his nomination forms ahead of the upcoming primary elections of the party.
Speaking at the Labour Party State Secretary at Gudu District, Abuja, the state chairman of the party, Comrade Peter Diugwu, commended Chilaka for taking the bold step of venturing into the chairmanship race.
He said with the little he has observed, Chilaka has shown potentials of clinching the party flag and he is imminently qualified as well as other aspirants to deliver the Labour Party in the 2026 FCT Councils Elections.
According to him, “I am seeing this young man as a silent achiever; he doesn’t make noise. As from today, we the state exco will start taking you serious, because you have surprised us”.
Before presenting the nomination forms to Chilaka, the state chairman prayed for him and his team as they continue to embark on consultations with other stakeholders ahead of the primary election.
In his remarks, the FCT publicity secretary of LP, Eyisi Okey Nwoke said, “Within the short time that you declared your intention; we know you have visited area council party executives, you have visited, perhaps, some wards and you are probably still on it, we wish you well. We can only say you look very credible to fly our flag, and we will not hesitate to give you our flag.
“That ticket belongs to the party; the party decides whom to give it to, and I think you may be the one. We have part of your programmes, and they are interesting, and ofcourse speak well of your mission.
“Continue to align with the party; when you align with the party, the party would be comfortable to give you the ticket, and the ticket would be given in a manner that the primaries would be open, free, transparent, credible and convincing so that other aspirants you would, probably, defeat would rally round you, and we move on with the great victory”.
Appreciating the party for a warm reception, Honourable Chilaka Sigmund Chimeziem said he would carry the party along in all his programmes and solicited their supports in making his dream a reality.
He mentioned some of his agenda to include improving security, youth empowerment, rehabilitation and construction of infrastructure, improved workers welfare and others.
The event was attended by members of the state working committee of the party, party supporters as well as team of the aspirant and some members of the media.
